Checking out life with Kim

Last week my daughter came home from art camp a little perturbed.  One of the other little girls at the camp asked Kara if I was her grandmother dropping her off and picking her up everyday.  Since I am her mother, she was a little disturbed by this question.

I know why she was asked this question.  It was because of all my gray hair.  I knew it was getting bad, but didn’t think it was that bad.  But when an 8 year old thinks I look like a grandmother, then I know it’s time to haul out the box of dye.

Now you are all probably wondering why I talk as if this is a big chore for me.  Well it is and I’m going to tell you why.  I have been going gray since the age of 16 so I have to constantly dye it (I’m only 40) and sometimes I get so….tired of having to dye it all the time.  So I give up on the dye jobs every once in a while and then someone makes a comment (like this kid did) and it kind of gets me back in the hair dyeing groove.

I never want my kids to feel embarrassed about me or my appearance, so I guess I’ll haul out the box of dye.

I am always grateful when someone gives me something for free that I could use, but this past week my father in law dropped off a lot of furniture to my house and all of a sudden my house has gotten a whole lot smaller. He is moving from a four bedroom home to a two bedroom home so he needs to downsize quite a bit. And he has decided that I need to have all his old furniture. So far he has given me a china cabinet, two beds, a dresser and two computer desks. He thinks the kids need a computer desk each even though they each don’t have a computer of their own. If it sounds like I’m complaining, really I’m not.

But, I just don’t know where I’m going to put all this stuff. He has already started making noises about giving us more stuff and I have tried to put a stop to it. But my husband says to let him do what he wants to do and we will either make room for all of it, or do something else with it. So if I end up with a broken leg after tripping over all this stuff, then I only have my father in law or my husband to blame. LOL

Today is turning out to be another busy one.  I was trying to figure out where all the time has gone, and I honestly think it has gone quickly because I never stop running around.  Most of the running is because of the kids.  So when their back in school I think I’m going to be able to slow down.

Today I need to drop the kids off at day camp, go to the bank, go to the post office, pick the kids up at day camp and then go to the bottle recycle place for the kids (camp money).  I will get it all done but man I wish I could slow down just a bit.  Then later on tonight I need to start packing so we can get an early start on our weekend camping trip.  If there is anything I’m forgetting, I really don’t want to know about it.  LOL

Summer vacation hot spots

Every year at this time of year families get ready to go on vacation. And our family is no different. Although we don’t travel very far from home, we do hop in the car and experience all the touristy attractions that are available to us in our neighboring towns. This wasn’t always the case. Before we had kids (so we had money) my husband and I took a vacation of a life time. We saved up all our money and then headed down to San Francisco for two weeks. I have to say that this vacation will probably go down as one of our best.

Although we had a blast and created lots of memories, if I had the chance to do it all over again, there would be some things that I would do differently. The first thing I would do is grab a copy of things to do in San Francisco from the website of Trusted Tours & Attractions. This way I would be assured of finding the best and most economical way to enjoy this vacation. Trusted Tours & Attractions is a site on the Internet which supplies vacationers with online tourists information like information concerning Boston Museum of Fine Arts through their handing out of online travel guides. Not only do they list they best places to find accommodations, but they also list all the major attractions going on around the year which also includes bus tours.

Their newsletter is chalked full of ideas and hot vacation spots for any traveller. Also if you sign up for their newsletter, you have a chance of winning a $150 iTunes gift card. So whether your vacation plans are already set in stone, or you would just like to get ideas on things to do in Los Angeles, Boston or various other cities, why not drop by this site and start planning your once in a life time vacation. I’m sure your vacation will be as memorable as mine and my husband’s was.

I won!!

Although I don’t enter too many contest, I did decide to enter one. The contest I entered was being held over at 3arn.net. The reason why I decided to enter this particular contest was because it was super easy to enter and you had a chance of winning 1000 Entrecard credits. I bust my backside every day dropping cards but have never been able to save up this amount of credits. So I thought if I had a chance of winning them, then why not!

So much to my amazement as well as delight I was contacted by the blog’s owner to tell me that I had indeed won the contest. I was so surprised and delighted. And it wasn’t much longer after they informed me that I won the contest that they deposited 1000 credits into my Entrecard account.

So I would like to take this opportunity to thank 3arn.net for holding this awesome contest and for picking me as the winner. Thank you so….much!!

I’m back at it

The first of the week I ventured into my home gym and started my workout routine. The first couple of days were quite rough as it’s been a very long time since some of these muscles have seen this type of exercise. But I know if I keep at it each day, it will get better. I would rather do my workout routines to keep my weight down than to use products like Phentermine without a prescription as I don’t use any types of drugs in my body if I don’t have to. Because of my slackness over the winter months I know it will take me a little while to get into the groove of things. But now that I have started, I am quite excited to keep going.

I love comments

I have to say that one of my favorite parts about blogging has got to be when people leave me comments.  I just love waking up first thing in the morning, grabbing my first cup of coffee and then sitting down at my computer to see if anyone has left me a comment while I was sleeping.

So I decided that I wanted to do something to reward all my commenter’s on this site.  Yesterday I found a WP plugin that allows me to display the top commenter’s on this blog.  It also gives a link back.  So I get to do something for you all since you come back and visit and leave your comments.  So if you’d like to see you name on my top commenter’s sidebar, all you need to do is comment.  I really do appreciate any and all comments that I receive.

I need sleep!

I am starting to get really tired. For the past month I haven’t been able to sleep very well and it’s finally starting to catch up to me. I don’t know if it’s because of the humidity in the air or not, but today I am going out to purchase a couple of dehumidifiers to see if this helps the problem. I have got to do something as lately I’ve become a complete wreck and it’s not really fair to the family. When I’m tired, I’m cranky. So hopefully with this purchase I’ll be able to soon post that I have finally gotten a good nights sleep.

Presents for the kids

Last night my father in law called to say that he already purchased the kids birthday presents. My daughter will be turning 10 in August and my son will turn 8 the following day. So two kids, two presents. Yesterday my father in law was at a community yard sale and came across 2 way radios at very good prices. These items had never been used and were still in the packages. He knows that the kids love anything that they can talk into, so he thought they would really enjoy a gift like this. I know they will really enjoy these presents and just be happy that they got something from their grampy.
